A giant gas turbine built by GE had to make a stopover in the port of Carrera for four days to be completely decontaminated before being shipped to Chevron’s Gorgon Project in Australia.
The final destination of the turbine was the pristine nature reserve of Barrow Island and it was crucial to eliminate any microbes that could affect the extraordinary wildlife of the Island. Any unauthorised access during the quarantine process could have jeopardised the whole project. Four REDSCAN sensors were deployed to create a virtual wall around the turbine and to scan the approach to it. The detection area provided by REDSCAN in vertical mode covers up to 15m High by  59 meters wide, which was perfectly suited to protect this large module.
